Get Out of My Country!

Sounds racist doesn't it?

Depends on who you address it to though... doesn't it?

I myself to choose to yell this in the face of institutions such as the British National Party and the White Wolves. Those who would drive people into the seas on the basis of skin colour. I warn them here and now that the measure they use... will be used on them.

Would that I could silence them permanently. They use clever soundbites to capitalise on the political disaffection felt by the electorate... who feel let down over immigration issues by the major parties. They stir up dissension and hatred and to a greater extent then the major parties - play off the stupidity and ignorance of sycophantic or apathetic voters.

I'm writing all this because some moronic idiot has posted a racist slur on a newspaper delivered to one of the local shops. Oh I'm sure they are just some badly educated fool trying to have a laugh... and they don't believe what they have written (the grammar and spelling were awful), but I'm using the opportunity to spell out just how intolerant I feel towards the very existence of racist institutions.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... I'm a pacifist... but if these sons of Satan ever got in power I'd strongly consider taking up arms against them. You can't just stand by and watch entire communities be fenced in or annihilated on the basis of their skin colour or creed.

The only people who deserve to be driven into the sea are the hatemongers who desire to do it to others.

This isn't their country - no country really belongs to any nation state, tribe or individual. In truth, there are no borders. We are merely stewards of the lands we occupy, when we die, it's someone elses turn. The only true owner of this land is Almighty God, whose signature is found in every crack in every stone... in the DNA of every living being and in the splendour and majesty of the heavenly bodies.

We are tenants and we have an obligation to God to be kind to our fellow man and tender to the planet he created... broken as it is through our own disobedience.

The way see it there are three ways of looking at the resources at our disposal:

Mine:
A selfish perspective whereby we consume everything for our own desires and pleasures, not mindful of the needs of others... making gain for gain's sake... like the rich fool who tore down his barns to make larger ones.

Ours:
A better attitude whereby we share our profits with those around us, recognising that people around us are valuable and worth looking after. It's still flawed though... who do you define as ours? Is it everyone... or is it just people around us who we care about? Even the BNP can lay claim to wanting to look after "our own". so clearly even this way of looking at things has it's drawbacks.

His:
The ultimate attitude of selflessness. By declaring everything as belonging to God, you set yourself free from the burden of your own perceptions. Who you care for is no longer determined by social class, colour, creed or mutual affection... it is determined by God's wisdom instead. The great thing is that God is gracious, he already promises and gives us more than we could hope for... and he longs to bless us. When we achieve the true state of selflessness as exemplified in Jesus, we live under the provision of the Lord of all. I ain't fully there yet... but I long to be.

Finally

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."

What's it to be then?

Blessings

Integrity

What a busy week in politics.

We started off with the news that the BNP (British National Party) are estimated to have an increase in support, somewhere in the region of 25% during the forthcoming County council elections. Although this isn't likely to manifest itself much in the way of seats... the news is till enough to grieve my spirit.

This is how it always starts isn't it?

A country gets claustrophobic due to being heavily populated... and the fingers start pointing at one group or another as being responsible for all the woes of the nation. The mainstream political parties do little to resolve the situation and eventually some group of nut jobs start promoting an agenda of hatred.

Instead of clinging to power and corruption, the mainstream parties need to acknowledge what is going on and come up with some real answers. One thing is certain as far as I am concerned. were the BNP to claim power in my area (unlikely), I would actively oppose them. Were they to ever come to power (heaven forbid), I would with heavy heart consider taking up arms against the nation. Not out of pride, not out of patriotism... but out of integrity.

Also in the news this week, the Home Office freed foreign nationals convicted of murder, rape and extreme violence... and then "lost" some of their whereabouts, instead of deporting them. Unsurprisingly, groups such as the BNP thrive on snippets like this... of course, if they had their way all foreign nationals would either be wearing identification armbands, detained in camps or driven into the sea.

Charles Clarke clings to his position when realistically, it is untenable. Incompetence or negligence have led to the release of criminals (who have been assessed as likely repeat offenders) into the community. He says he wants to stay to clear up the mess. A man of integrity would step down and still help out where he could. Naturally Clarke still (publicly at least) has Tony Blair's "full confidence"... but the last time when there were calls for the resignation of a minister (Ruth Kelly) he said exactly the same. At this rate, the day will come when a Government minister will be found in a room, standing over the bodies of innocents... clutching a knife and covered in blood.... and all the time, while voices cry out for justice... Tony Blair will express his "complete confidence" in his hapless colleague.

Then we had Patricia Hewitt insisting the NHS has had it's best year. Yes... right... and that's why a friend of mine has been messed about for so long while waiting for an essential gall bladder operation (because he could only be seen once a week). Nurses do a great job in this country and they are walked on for doing it. It's the same with all vocational jobs. If you do something that requires a kind heart as a profession... your paymasters will take advantage of you... and that is unfair, especially when you have executives aplenty wrapping hospitals up in more and more red tape.

Finally we have the news that John Prescott has had an affair.

Yes... I thought I'd stepped into an alternate reality myself for a moment too!

Alas, it is true. I honestly can't see why any sane woman (including his poor spouse) would want have union with such a man. he is gross... and he is a bully.

I ain't exactly a work of art... but for pities sake. The idea that Prescott is having more luck with women than me is as ludicrous as Princess Leia choosing Jabba the Hutt over Han Solo. Intolerable. The women who do these things must have precious little integrity. To sleep with a grotesque individual for a wad of money and media exposition, it's pretty low.

Finally we have Blair himself. Elected in 1997 under a promise to clean up politics, to counterpoint the sleaze of the Tories... and here we have him leading a scandal ridden, ragtag band of rogues... as guilty as the Tories ever were... and yet they get away with it because there is no real opposition. The media has taken it upon itself to grease the wheels of change. With no political power strong enough in it's own right, to stand against the Blairite army... the press and other media bodies have taken it upon themselves to do the dirty work. This is showing because they seize upon every little thing - even when a microscopic granule of drugs is found at Doctor John Reid's residence. I'm pretty confident he probably is as innocent as he claims in this case, but it just goes to show how keen the media are to exploit any injury in the Blair camp.

So next week, come election day I will be stuck again. I'm economically left wing and marginally liberal on the authoritarian scale. All the parties still occupy right wing economics so I can't choose, because my own personal integrity won't allow me to. Why should I choose the lesser of two evils? An exaggeration I know, but would you choose between Hitler and Stalin?

Small Men

I was horrified the other day, to hear the latest outburst from Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. For those who are unaware, Mr Ahmadinejad publically declared that the Holocaust was a myth. Of course, Mr Ahmadinejad is only referring to the Jewish holocaust... for that is the only one that is affected by his prejudice. I'm sure he would not deny the massacre of Poles, Gypsies and Communists... because they are of no interest to him. You see, he wants the nation state of Israel to become non existent.

I was watching the television with my father, the last time Mr Ahmadinejad spoke out declaring that Israel should be "wiped off the map". My heart was grieved and my blood started to bubble up. Dad sat there calmly puffing on his pipe and said "it's because he is small!" That sounded rather un "PC", so I asked him to expand on what he meant. Dad simply pointed out a psychological truth: that many men of small stature subconsciously feel intimidated around others, and so use aggressive political gesturing... to compensate. Great isn't it? A nation is being governed by a man with an inferiority complex.

I have to say, to a certain degree I am in agreement with my father. I have witnessed similar actions by similar people in my life. The worst bully in my secondary school was one of the shortest lad's in our year. Somebody else I know frivolously cracks on to every girl in sight irrespective of whether he or they are in a relationship or not, oh I'm sure most of the time he isn't going to take it further... but I find it disturbing that he uses girls in this way... just to satisfy his inferiority complex and appease his ego.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not suggesting all short men are ruled by inferiority complexes that make them bad people... I'm just saying it's something a few short men are prone to. In truth there are tall men in stature who are very small men at heart... there are also very short men who are giants of compassion and nobility. It's the psychology I'm assaulting, not the height.

It is not enough to recognise these men and their actions for what they are, that is no solution in itself. Mr Ahmadinejad governs a country that has expressed a nuclear interest. Whether or not his polical rhetoric comes from posturing, or from his own mistaken deep-seated beliefs; he cannot afford to gamble with such aggressive statements. Even if it is not his intention to act on such flawed ideological whims... there are people in this world who will either believe he is... or use his statements to suggest he is. It has happened before... very recently. He would do well to read the story of the boy who cried "wolf"... for his situation is a mirror image of it. He makes inane statements and nobody seems to act, so he continues.

One day the wolf may come.

Then who will heed him?

I'm not a strong supporter of US foreign policy, but I would imagine Ahmadinehad is the perfect worm to bait the hungry hawks whose feet are swift rush into blood!

Oh, and for anybody who is left in any doubt about the Holocaust, the estimates for Jews slain are reckoned between 4.1 - 6 million. Non Jewish victims including Gypsies, POW's, homosexuals and Russians amounted to around 5-6 million... for every death a name, for every name a face... stolen in acts of abhorrence.

It happened.
